20110301-Eating Out

My tummy hurts! There wasn’t enough space for both the temp girl’s BIG bagel this morning and little Theresa’s 7-inch Philly’s Original Mushroom sandwich for $7! I only ate half and some of the “Onions Rings” and “Garlic Fries” for the twosome to “sample” tonight. She gave me the remaining share of the “Sweet Potatoe Fries” to take home, too, I know! The food will be cold but it’s still good!

Then she got me two “Marble Pound Cakes” for $1.95 per piece and a small coffee of the day at Starbucks. But Gary A. (the middle guy at work) took my bag in error! He was to my right but I didn’t take notice of his presence. At least he was slowly getting into his car while talking on the cellphone; and I was able to make the exchange. I told him that I missed including him in my “farewell speech” yesterday morning.

And within one hour from 11:30am to 12:30pm, we had finished lunch. The two bags of food are waiting in the car, which is cooking hot but it’s okay because it’s still good!

I tried repaying the temp girl with the loose bills from little Theresa but it looks like no one wants to accept my repayment for their kindness. So with all do respect, I could only send my heartfelt blessings to Mother Theresa, Mike the Greek God, the thoughtful, temp girl and whoever made me feel welcome. Oh! And to Steve: Smile and don’t be sad!

Despite my overall unfriendly tone of my blog, please disregard my frustrations. Y’all are nice after all. So that’s how it feels to interact with nice people who share food and support emotions. Anything more is not “needed”.

20110331-Noticing Numbers

I’m still learning why and how businesses operate. Throughout my career, I’ve only stuck to whatever felt comfortable. I didn’t want to challenge and stress myself out just for more money. There was no need because I didn’t want to prove anything beyond existing.

Even after visiting little Theresa’s desk a few minutes ago, I didn’t want to hear “what I should do” to achieve more as far as looking for work. All I could do is distract her with the comments of how pretty the boss had decorated their area in pastels colors of Easter with shiny, hanging eggs and metallic streamers with cut-outs of baby chicks, flowers and such.

There is technology to streamline the jobs. Seriously, that’s what happened in my previous job. The employer was EXTREMELY well-known worldwide and powerful enough to offer lay-off packages to the ones they don’t like or who choose to “take-it-and-run”, a phrase I read about online long from a former PM, who still owes me BIG TIME! As for this place, it could outsource more jobs and trim labor costs further. What people “refuse” to handle, the computers can do BETTER!

At 11:11a 03-31-11, my Cisco IP Phone 7942 had reset itself! It blinked out to my former employer’s BIG logo and then went to the default security screen. My name no longer appears on the phone. Wow! That means TPTB knows I work here. I was feeling excited yet sad! Hehehe!

Notice the seven “one’s”; one zero and two “three’s”, which would read as “33″.

20110331-Papers Away

I went to bed late last night at 1:30am and am still feel groggy from lack of sleep. After scanning and archiving over 500 pages last night, I’m still NOT done with my Lenten Season project! And today is the last day of my personal push for completion.

I don’t feel like “verifying” the count of each scanned item. The thick file is stacked up on my desk! It’s a nightmare to imagine the waste of time AND paper (formerly known as trees), just for printed material. That’s why I prefer electronically recorded images: The digital version reduces the “paper monster”.

During my project, I creatEd five new folders labeled Various: news, discoveries, taxes, accounting and legal. I may merge the informational with the other five new folders but this folder contains coupons, discounts, advertisement, plane tickets, placement cards, etc.

And those were scanned in COLOR! That’s right! I even scan thicker papers in color! NeatWork Quick Scanner really works! Just make sure the paper is thin enough to feed through the rollers. The thinner paper, like carbon copies, can jam up because the sticky rollers are truly “quick”.

The last “major” paper works are the hard copies of the Yahoo! Messenger. But since TPTB don’t want to touch it, I’m left to scan these colored text and archive it with the rest. I plan to just dump all these crap without shredding. Perhaps, I could rubberband the stack in case someone gets curious. As usual, Thursday is Paw’s “Trash Can Night” for Friday’s “Pick-Up”.

20110330-Eating Out

So during lunch yesterday, the LOUD wise crack made a quote, which I forgot! It has something to do with a cook. The general interpretation is: “You get whatever the cook prepares”. In other words, we get no choice as in the place to celebrate the temps farewell party.

I would crack: “I wanted hotdog!” Of course, I was trying to tease the guys. Then the temp girl suggested a Costco hotdog, which is good but one cannot refuse the large drink that comes with the order. Wow!

20110331-Weathery Ways

Since this Sunday, the rain has stopped and finally spring came. The mocking bird was actually singing that fine morning, even though the air was still cool from the prior day’s rain. And today, I whistled along with another mocking bird as I walked towards the back lobby to this “temp job from hell”. I don’t see birds flying around but have seen some in “V-formation” during the cloudy days last week.

Today’s weather has crispy, clear blue skies! Of course, the sunshine is bright! I expect to enjoy lunch meal — Pho soup — with little Theresa. But I’ll pay so I can get change for the temp girl, who bought esterday’s lunch meal of $6.99. I loved the pickle but in my mind most businesses are only giving of what its worth.
