After 33 years or so, ten rose bushes and one rose tree have been removed, including the stumps and whatever root system in the muddied soil. An older, shorter man was the muscle behind the HARD WORK. He was tanned, had dusty dark hair and wore a crem-colored jacket, dark pants and steel-toed work shoes. The blue wheelbarrow, tanned tarp and one GAS-powered blower were tools to help finish the job.
Paw heard wheelbarrow noises at 7:45am. Maw and I awoke around the same time. While using the toilet to do my number one, I opened the small bathroom window and saw that the rose bushes were already removed! All that was left were some leaves and dented hallows of dirt! We hurried with our routine and found ourselves downstairs and outdoors, greeting the fart, felt the morning sunshine and inhaled fresh air.
Kamal (or Ali per his outbound phone call) greeted all three of us — first me, Paw, and then Maw who didn’t hear him at first. He was whining about why she was fighting with him but she told him that is how she was being direct. At 8:06am, he wanted to go. The old man was smiling from a distance, hopped into the white truck with tall white walls on either side.
Paw handed him cash without a receipt. Kamal (or Ali) didn’t have an invoice or receipt for us when Paw requested one. Kamal had instructed me to grab a piece of paper. Of course, Maw had raised her voice to Paw and said that it was okay and to let the man go. The Paw wanted to talk some more and mentioned the underground pipe for the watering system.
Kamal knows the tall guy named Gidda, who did our watering system out front. Both are from India. But I know that some if not most who claim are from India are really MUSLIMS. Kamal said that Gida is a nice guy and drivse a limosine. So perhaps, Landy might know Anthony, who might know Gihda. Anthony drives a long white limousine in the Santa Clara, CA area.
The very tanned, short worker dumped the chopped roses on our nice pile of yard trimmings. I grabbed a bottle of holy water from Our Lady of Peace and blessed the old pile and asked forgiveness of the old roses. Then I blessed the empty plots, Maw veggies of eggplants and tomatoe, cally lilly, a good-luck bush and five cacti.
