More: Politics, The Fly , CalPERS, City Council, Pension reform, Pete ConstantOriginally asking City Attorney Rich Doyle to study the proposal in June, Constant’s Dec. 19 memo, which suggests Doyle draft a resolution that gives notice of the city’s intention to terminate its contract with CalPERS, went in front the Rules and Open Govt. Committee on Wednesday and was unanimously approved.
The council will now consider a resolution at its Jan. 24 meeting.
While the move seems to have the support of Mayor Chuck Reed and councilmembers Pierluigi Oliverio and Madison Nguyen, who are on the Rules Committee with Constant, the entire council isn’t necessarily on board.

En route to this morning’s mass, we listened to our local radio station KSFO 560 AM with Brian Sussman. Coucilmember Pete Constant was on the air. He spoke about fighting back the unions and setting a precedence in San Jose for the State of California and the nation as a whole, too. Maw and I agree. The unions are taking/asking too much from the TAXPAYERS. Even I know MORE and earn LESS in the private sector than someone who could do simple tasks such as “copying and collating” under a union contract. We support Pete Constant, Chuck Reed and pals to fight back against the unions and their thugs. Silicon Valley doesn’t need unions. It needs more nerds. Visit http://www.sjdistrict1.com/.
